From the history of flatware to the first china pattern selected by the Queen of England, Mary Mahoney knows the traditions and the important stories behind them. She has a respect for tradition and is an exclusive resource for luxury items to compliment a jetsetter’s life.
Our objective was to create a plan for the digital flagship for MaryMahoney.com, from a brand refresh to custom features that serve specific customer and staff needs. Mary Mahoney customer’s shop the most high-end and exclusive luxury websites in the world. Our user’s needs vary from the DIY customer to a completely white-glove service level requirement. The Mary Mahoney team must be able to keep inspirational content up to date, provide personalized information for customers, and keep information extremely organized.
After competitive analysis and in-depth research, ID executed a full service strategy, concept design, visual design, and responsive front-end/back-end development based on Magento CE. The site includes integration with LightSpeed Retail. Visually, the site revealed Mary Mahoney’s luxurious dinnerware in an elegant, but also playful manner, as the animation on the homepage invites you to her table. In order to manage their full product catalog which included thousands of grouped products, Magmi was utilized, which could bridge the gap between Magento and LightSpeed Retail. To fill the requests of brides and grooms who wish to fill their homes with Mary’s collections, ID created a full service gift registry for customers to seamlessly create, manage and find gift registries. ID trained the client team on how to update the Magento Content Management System for key features and sales. Shipstation and Mailchimp were also integrated in order to streamline email newsletter subscriptions and shipping/fulfillment. Mary now has the ability to communicate and present her visions in a digital format that is sustainable and scalable.
ID approached the strategy and planning phase for this Magento site by utilizing Moqups to manage different site maps and information architecture. Moqups was also utilized to create a dynamic, clickable prototype that was easy to share online.
As an SEO requirement, the prototype was populated with all of the original site’s existing copy, ID’s copywriter and producers worked to restructure the story for the brand, while maintaining all of the original SEO copy.
In addition to copy updates, over 25 detailed page templates were created for each feature across desktop and mobile.
The Design phase began with the Concept Design. Starting from the client’s well developed brand standards, two different directions were identified that would align with our design goals yet meet their existing standards. We wanted the design to be unique enough that it would appeal to a luxury market, yet comfortable enough that we would not alienate their existing customer base.
