THE HISTORY OF ALCONE COMPANY
Alcone Company started in 1950 as a pharmacy that sold cosmetics and false eyelashes to Broadway showgirls and starlettes. Alcone is a family run business that focuses on sourcing the absolute best professional makeup products available.
Alcone approached ID to be their strategic and creative digital partner in the redesign of their eCommerce flagship. We were tasked with creating a concept that brought together Alcone’s individual sub-brands under one brand strategy, while providing a seamless and user-centered shopping experience built on Magento’s Community Edition. The site needed to be integrated with their point of sale system, LightSpeed through Accumula’s Channels connector, for catalog upload and inventory management.
After competitive analysis and a site audit, ID proposed restructuring the catalog and devised content strategies to support eCommerce goals. Buying Guides were identified as important content that could present the expertise of the Pros at Alcone by comparing and contrasting top products. Pro Picks highlight the favorite go-to products of celebrity makeup artists and experienced Alcone staff members. After SEO analysis, it was clear that brand names brought a tremendous amount of traffic from new visitors to the site and brand categories were a must-have for the new site.
After multiple design concepts, ID executed a Magento CE eCommerce solution that met the goals and business objectives of the design team. The site was integrated with a connector for LightSpeed cloud and Shipstation, for inventory management and shipping fulfillment.
